Another good day at the office

Well the confidence is starting to flow back after my enforced lay off and I clocked up another winning 4 hour session last night.

Just for the record, anyone who has read any of my articles in Poker Pro, WPT or Online Poker Pro will be aware of the fact that I do not divulge where I play and the reasons behind that should be self evident.

But getting back to poker, it is surprising just how much money can be acquired from playing nothing but solid poker. This is what really kills players, they get to a certain level of knowledge through books or whatever then bust a gut trying to be fancy and pushing everyone around.

Well I played 3 tables of 5-10 NL and won just over $2000 without any fuss whatsoever. In fact I dont recall there being a big pot all evening. Dont get me wrong here, I am certainly not advocating that you do not read poker books because I have read hundreds down the years but no amount of books will give you table feel.

Some things just cannot be learnt by books and the finer points of poker probably fit into that category despite the fact that I have a book myself due out this year and an e-book on SNG’s already on sale.

One of the things that I learnt to my cost was to keep things simple….in fact someone famous once said that simplicity was the true genius….what a statement.
