Poker is all about playing and winning and trusting the poker environment in which you are active.
But todays question comes from Adrian who asks,
Q…..CAN ONLINE POKER BE TRUSTED??
Well the answer is not straight forward. If I say yes then that paints an incorrect picture of the real situation. If I say no then that paints an equally negative picture that is also a long way from the truth. LOOK……if you played live poker then would you expect ALL poker games to be straight?? Of course you wouldnt and any person who thinks that they are is either stupid, naive or both.
Wherever money is involved then you will find players looking to cheat. The sites themselves are beyond such measures or at least the big boys are. If you wanted to buy a car and you bought a used car from some used car salesman on a street corner and you then got ripped off, it would be wrong to make a comparison between that used car salesman and the Jaguar dealership down the road. This is what we are doing when you try to generalise with regards some activities that certain low life online card rooms have resorted to in the past.
But if you went to Jaguar and bought a car from them, while the firm has no credibility issues, this doesnt mean that you may be told the entire truth by some sales rep. This analogy with online poker is clear, you can trust the big sites but not all poker players on those sites will be playing legally……BUT HEY……that is the poker world in a nut shell. Part of the game involves watching the players not just to learn how they play but for other reasons too. So dont be concerned about the big online sites and if you watch your own back then you will be fine.
At the end of the day, I have a very serious reputation in the online poker industry so I have to make a very serious committment whenever I allow myself to become linked with a card room and I had no reservations whatsoever about joining Cake Poker and neither should you.
