I have been aware recently of how some high profile poker coaches from some high profile poker coaching sites have been on a downward spiral over the past year. There have been various theories put forward. While I wont be naming any names, you can find out who these people are just by doing a little research.
But after the bad year that I had last year then I certainly dont want to be responsible for highlighting certain people. Personally I think that there could be many reasons for it. The main one I feel is that the higher level games have got remarkably tough. I think that finding value now above certain limits is very difficult. This was one of the reasons why I stopped playing high-stakes limit.
We can find value in the 25-50 games but even then that isnt easy. I havent played for several days now and that is purely down to a chronic lack of value based on the skill level of my game. Brian Townsend may not need the same level of game selection but then again I aint Brian Townsend.
Also there is another reason that has been put forward and this is that these players have advertised their styles so much that they are now an open book and struggling because of it. I dont buy this as a reason for two reasons. Firstly top class players will adjust, every great player has had to do this at some stage, it is what you have to do to become a great player.
Also, I simply do not believe that at least some of these players are not playing on other accounts. So the advertised accounts may be doing badly but I dont believe that the players are in general……draw your own conclusions.
