I was flicking through Super System 2 yesterday……dont know why……just bored. But I was reading the stuff that poker theorist Mike Caro wrote at the beginning and it made me think that playing successful poker is more than just exercising knowledge.
Zen culture teaches us that everything in the universe is connected in some way and there are many things connected to poker that contrive to making a player successful. I was also reading a book yesterday on rock,paper scissors strategies and that is one really complex game although I expected that it would be.
It also stated how hard professionals (never realised that there were pro’s at this) worked before tournaments and this included things like physical workuts and diet programs. If these guys can be as professional as this then we can all take heed.
I started out trying to lose a few pounds a while back and failed…..again. But I think that I understand the root of my problem now and it is being caused by boredom. I simply dont get out of the house often enough but I am planning a couple of trips to the races next month as I am looking to change my life style in several areas.
I also need to have other things in my life that are something other than poker. Sports betting was a big part of my life once upon a time but that has taken a back seat lately as well with me working on these poker systems. I think that the repetition is starting to get to me and I need to keep a close eye on my boredom levels and also my way of life…….poker and life really are interlinked…….clever chap that Mike Caro.
