Maybe I simply cannot do it

Sometimes you just have to admit that there are certain things in poker that you simply cannot do for whatever reason. I think that multi-tabling may just not be my cup of tea. It could just be that I will never get this challenge off the ground unless I commit to playing a single table. I have to look back at my history in poker and ascertain just how I have made my money.

I have hardly earned a bean multi-tabling compared to how much I have made playing single tables and two at the most. I think that these days the scope to multi-table successfully is less than what it used to be simply because the players are better. I even wrote an article a while back stating that single tabling would take advantage of players whose concentration was split over several tables. Its about time I practiced what I preach. Also my concentration levels drop off at times and when you are multi-tabling and seeing about ten hands a minute then that can be disasterous to your earn. At least with single tables, you can spot this happening and then drag yourself back out of it.

When I play 25-50 I single table…..and mostly do well. Whenever I play heads up…..I mostly win…….whenever I single table limit games……I win. In fact whenever I have single tabled anything I have won. Isnt it amazing just how people get seduced by speed. Years ago the only option that you had was to play live poker and that always meant single tabling.

But just like in life, it can sometimes be a mistake to simply do things just because you are allowed to do them. I can think of smoking and drugs as two prime examples. There is such a thing as cognitive bias in poker and this can be a serious obstacle to overcome.

So I am going to change the way that I am doing the challenge, I am going to single table the limit games starting at $2-$4 with a $1000 bankroll and use this month as preparation for next month and see how it goes. Now that I think that I have seen the light I am relatively confident that this challenge will at least be successful during the early stages.

I think that I need to watch the players more as well instead of just playing on auto-pilot. This obviously means playing less tables as I will not be using tracking software to help me because as you all know, Cake Poker do not allow it.

So I think that I have finally seen some sense with this challenge and single tabling the six max limit games is where I will start. What better way to succeed than to play as if you are playing in a card room.

Speaking of tracking software, this new Poker Office 5 is really the business. We have discovered a couple of really juicy targets in the 25-50 game. They dropped in last night but I couldnt get to the game fast enough before they buggered off…..still there is always this week. But they really ought to start charging a thousand bucks for this software because it is literally THAT good.

See ya soon
