Played a 90 minute session of NL50 earlier today and won $61, played a session last night and lost $28 but I had flush under flush at one stage which cost me a bit. Actually last night was good as my luck was out and I think that I lost the absolute minimum for the session.
I think that I am playing well now in the NL50′s and am over $1400 ahead and over $500 ahead since I finalised the system. With more sites joining the Cake Poker network then this is great news as the numbers are certainly rising fast. I think that Cake Poker will become a very serious contender in the online poker world very soon and may even challenge for number one spot somewhere down the line.
Recently I have been working on my mental approach to poker and studying NLP which is Neuro Linguistic Programming. I am trying to alter my fears about playing at highstakes, actually fear isnt the right word but last year has altered my mental state. I know that back when I was playing 150-300 limit that I was fearful of losing. This didnt prevent me from making the proper plays or risking money but I had a negative uncomfortable feeling all the time while I was playing.
I wasnt even playing with scared money as I was well bankrolled to play those levels, its just something that I have struggled to shake off and is obviously built around negative experiences in my earlier life when money was hard to come by.
But NLP works on re-programming your mind and I have to say that these are very powerful techniques. I have totally altered my mindset over this past couple of weeks by working on some simple but highly effective techniques. I am far more self assured going into the 25-50 sessions and now it is only a matter of time before I am playing without any backers although I will be down to only one come June anyway and I wont be looking for any others.
I have also altered my mindset with regards the challenge sessions and I have a sneaking feeling that discipline will no longer be a problem in those NL50 games. On top of this, I have also lost some weight using these techniques, something that I have been struggling to do for quite some time (years in fact). I feel good about myself now and I havent been like that in ages. I really think that 2009 will turn into a very pivotal year for me wth regards my personal life and my poker game too.
So the new buzz phrase is NLP…….didnt want to mention this in case you thought that I was off on one of my little schemes again but this stuff really does work if you apply yourself properly. I am sitting here in March now thinking that it will be very hard for me not to have a good year results wise this year and I am actually looking forward to playing the 25-50 game rather than fearing it and the potential losses that come with it.
So “The Dean” is well and truly reborn and the old “Dean” may be dead and I am certainly glad to hear that. Anyway…..see ya soon and take care.
