Had my first losing session in ages in the Pro Poker Challenge. Just played for an hour and lost $16. I am now +$519 this month so far. Actually I was unlucky today, had a flush under flush in a heads up situation which cost me about $20 and lost another $15 with AQ on a 9-7-3-A-A board against a slow played set of threes.
I eight tabled again today but six of those were at NL20 and only two at NL50. This I feel is a major contributing factor as to why I lost. I just wasnt seeing enough action on the main NL50′s as there were only two available. What I need to be doing now is avoiding burn out (it doesnt take much with me these days) by playing too much NL20.
Maybe it is the money aspect but I dont think I am playing these as well as I do the NL50′s and they are proving to be a serious distraction. So from now on, unless I can get some good action at NL50 and this means at least 6 tables then I probably will save my energy and play later in the day.
Another factor is the rakeback which hardly generates at NL20 so this is another factor. So from now on it is NL50 and NL50 only and NL20 is getting the chop. Played a session at 25-50 last night and won $309 in about 45 minutes. My target left the table and so did I but it has been a slow month so far. Maybe I need to work harder on my game to spot value in these games. If Brian Townsend plays them constantly and multi-tables them then I must be missing a trick somewhere.
Actually getting back to the challenge, I am almost glad that I lost today as it straightened me out with a couple of things. It would be annoying to make $1000 in a month when just by working differently I could have made $2000.
Another problem is that whenever I take a hit on a NL50, the small action on the NL20′s are not providing me with enough of a chance to claw that back on those tables. I think that what I have basically just done……play 8 tables and 6 of them on NL20…….IS A WASTE OF TIME. If it isnt then it isnt far off and there is only so many hours in a 24 hour period that I want to sit behind a computer and I dont want to spend half that time playing NL20……..anyway see you soon.
