Well its nearly two weeks since good old Mick McCool laid into me on The Poker Show and I still havent bought him a drink yet (must get around to doing that). I was speaking to Barry Carter the other day by e-mail who said a couple of things that set me thinking.
Firstly, he said that I have claimed some very “big” things in the past and should be prepared to possibly back them up. When I asked him to define what I had claimed that was “big”……nothing came back. The thing is that I have upset a lot of people…..that much is obvious…….but I havent upset anyone……thay have upset themselves. I am still waiting for someone to tell me just what in the hell I have claimed that is “big”.
Anyone read POD will know that I earned JACK…..hardly big.
Anyone read my blog on here last year and my losses…….even less big
Never played highstakes NLHE……..not even remotely big
Anyone who has read some of my articles on The Hendon Mob…….light years away from being big
It seems though as Barry pointed out that people only remember certain stuff but that is their problem not mine. If anyone took the time to call me for a chat, I could fill them in with no more than 30-45 minutes conversation. I really dont know why I have to place these posts but something else that Bazza said was in how I have lost my credibility…….I COULDNT DISAGREE MORE!!
How the hell can someone who merely writes about poker and now rarely plays who hasnt won any major titles EVER HAVE ANY TO BEGIN WITH
Anyone who has read “The Dean on Dragons Den” on The Hendon Mob forum will see in ONE SINGLE ARTICLE not only what I think of myself but also how big I think that I am in my own mind. What confuses certain people is that there is loads of OTT blurb that surrounds my name that has come from certain people not connected to poker except indirectly who I wished that I had not worked with.
But on top of that, I have merely written about what I have done and added something for artistic effect…..that is hardly a crime. But underpinned by all that is someone who knows this bloody industry very well and knows online poker very well.
Anyway……enough of that. I am putting more effort into my sports betting side of late which is hardly conducive for a poker blog but anyway……I am still in and around poker. Someone on Blonde said a few months ago that we may be asking “what happened to the Dean” in five years time. How prophetic those words may be……right words but for the wrong reason. If he means poker forums, then it was five months and not years as I really am not going back to any of them……I am too much of a loner for that and never mixed socially with anyone from off there.
Been watching the games on PokerLoco again www.pokerloco.com/thedean and I may have a little dabble before long. I always thought that the Ongame network was pretty screwed down but then again I dont know what the hell I am talking about. I definitely advise people to take a look though although once again cannot vouch for any of the other games apart from NL50 to NL100.
I am really glad that the whole forum experience is behind me, they are actually pretty addictive and I was spending too much time either on them or ghosting them. I set about trying to estimate how many hours a year I spent on them and it was something like 6/7 hours a week. Between 350-400 hours a year is a staggering total of hours and this is another reason why I need to buy some people a bottle of champers.
I think that 2010 is shaping up to be a really good year and we are only in September 09……
see you soon
