When I used the Vulture I was hitting about $20/hour/per 4 tables when I was on top of the game. This was basically using a TAG style. This I feel is a very good way to play for most players who are starting out.
This however contradicts with my usual LAG style which I think was impeding on The Vulture somewhat and I was conflicting the styles. So I may actually experiment with another system to run alongside The Vulture at NL50 over the next few months on Cake Poker and that would be The Hawk.
The Hawk doesnt sit and wait for a carcass like The Vulture but actively goes out and kills it…..this is the difference between a TAG and a LAG style. So starting either on the 1st Aug or 1st Sept depending on how much other work I have on, I will be starting with “The Hawk” at NL50 and see how this more volatile system actually fares.
Players who requested the Vulture may not fit in well with The Hawk as the variance will be far higher. But variance can be your greatest friend in poker…….IF……..you can stomach it…….and thats the key word…….STOMACH!!!!
Most people cant and thats why they either play full-ring or they play defensive poker. This isnt my normal style and its probably why I dont like tournament poker. Was thinking of playing in the 5k English Poker Open at DTD in September but my usual style could well see me knocked out after a couple of levels.
I would hate to drive the 40 miles to DTD and have to face this let alone thousands of miles to get to the WSOP and having to fly to boot. Anyway……keep a look out for The Hawk on Pokersharkpool.
