This past few months have seen me at somewhat of a crossroads with regards my poker. In fact some very pivotal things have happened and its nice to know that my reputation is solid in the industry. My invites onto Stox Poker who are now merged with Card Runners and recently Poker Swat which boasts some of the biggest names in European online poker has filled me with pride and I was sorry to have to turn them both down when it came to shooting coaching videos.
But my invite into the prestigeous 2+2 internet magazine with Sklansky and Malmuth has been a key feature of my “fame” expanding. Its only when I see the offers that I get coming through that I then start to realise. So why then have I been struggling with my poker over the last few months?
It isnt because of the fact that the online games have got tougher…..JESUS…..they havent got THAT tough!!! But my indifferent recent results have been to do with me and me alone. Something has changed in my mindset and it has taken me quite some time to wake up and smell the coffee.
I will now be playing tournament poker more and more and cash games less and less and who knows, I may even revert back to playing SNG’s. It is probably a combination of too many cash games over too many years coupled with my personal situation changing but I badly need to do something different with regards my poker playing.
I have been playing lowstakes cash games on Cake Poker and will be for a while as I am want to practice a system that I have been working on for a while and then hopefully tell you all about it if it works but it will take a few months of trials yet. The system is built around set guidelines and rules and would be great for novices…..if it works….time will tell.
But I really want to expand my involvement in tournament poker and I will be playing one tournament a week starting next month but I will try to play 2/3 a week either later on this year or early next year and that is a big step for me but I would like to play around 150 online poker tournaments next year.
So the motto is CRASH THE CASH or to put it in English, I will be dramatically reducing my cash game exposure and now, I will have to make that phone call to my prospective backer to tell him to put his money away because it aint going to happen.
