I love this time of year, the birds are singing and the sun is shining…..if only I were outside enough to bloody enjoy them. Played another 40 min session with The Vulture this morning and nicked $8. Nothing happened but this is the type of session that I like because I manage to keep the discipline. Sacrificed plenty of EV and even folded pocket tens versus a short stack all-in pre-flop shove for 22BB.
When they do this then they either have AK,AQs or a higher pocket pair, they possibly could have the other tens or even nines but from what I have seen these past few months, if that range is correct which I assume to be the case then I am only 41% against that range. And with only the blinds as dead money then I simply dont want to stick my money into the pot in that situation.
No point when I can nick it on the very next hand or get some dude to stick it in to a four bet against my AA while holding QQ. I can basically have a high percentage of winning sessions playing like this and that has to be fantastic for the majority of players as poker can be a real bitch when you are going through bad runs and extreme variance.
I have only had 2 losing sessions out of 16 so far this month which is a winning session rate of nearly 90% (87.5%) Last months session results are on my other computer but as I recall they are similar figures. But the figure of 87.5% does tremendous things to your psyche. Personally I have always had a weak spot with regards taking losses so I know full well what makes people tick.
Like I have always maintained, better to make $2000 a month without stress than $3000 a month with it……thats if stress and variance are problems for you……if they are not then you are very very lucky.
