I think that one of the prime requisites for success in poker is having a sheer love of the game. OK, so we all like the game or we would not be playing it but can you honestly say that you are in love with it. Could you devote your every spare hour to either talking about it, playing it, analysing it, reading about it, writing about it etc etc.
Because once you can reach that stage then expertise becomes an inevitable end as you just keep on ploughing forward relentlessly. I often think that one of the major reasons why people drop out of University is because they have not given enough thought about what they really want to do.
I wonder just how many of them go into some degree course because it sounds good. The key to success in life is to home in on what you really love doing and not be fooled by what you think that you love doing. If you would honestly read and study something or do it for that matter without any financial incentive whatsover not just now but till the day you die then you can honestly say that you love that subject.
In fact some of the greatest books ever written have been by authors who were 100% passionate about the subject that they were writing about. They did not sell great numbers of copies because their work did not appeal to a big enough audience and they were not interested in having a catchy title either.
But to be a good or very good poker player then you have got to show some serious committment not just now but forever until the day you die. It isnt something to be endured, but enjoyed……if you really love it that is.
Having a couple of sessions in the 100K challenge tonight and tomorrow so will fill you in on Thursday of how I went on.
see ya soon
