I have often maintained that to be really good at something you have to love the subject. With poker there are so many possible variations on how to play it that it is pretty impossible to be good at them all. It is also pretty impossible to like them all.
If you dont like something then how can you ever put the work in to become good at it? We have tournaments, cash games, sng’s, PLO, NLHE, Limit, stud, O8, HORSE, full-ring, 6-max, heads up play etc etc etc etc etc etc.
I have played nearly everything over the years and looking back there are only a few things that arouse me in poker. I dont like poker tournaments, dont know why but they just dont do it for me. Full ring limit is another despite me playing it for years. I am starting to like 6-max PLO more and more and probably more so than NLHE.
But my number one passion is and always will be six-max limit. I love the process of planning the saving and the making of bets……it really is strategic in nature. This is a form of poker that would turn many people off but there is just something about it that really turns me on. But this is how it should be with poker. This begs the question why are we not using Poker Office 5 to help us beat the high limit games….good question.
While I have fallen in love with this software, there are serious problems with playing high-stakes limit holdem now. Firstly the players are just too damn good, you will see more dead money at 100-200 NLHE than you would at 100-200 limit and that makes variance an absolute bitch.
We have been working with Poker Office a lot this week and hopefully we have found a thing or two about one of the top players on the site. Have not played for a while so hoping to get some action in this weekend.
See ya soon
