Big news this week with Pokerstars banning the use of Sharkscope on their site. For those of you who dont know what Sharkscope is, this is a piece of software that basically tells you how successful the players are at a certain table in SNG’s.
I never used it when I played them because I dont think it was around then, may be wrong and if I am then it was only in its infancy. Some of the players are going to start crapping themselves without thier little pieces of software to help them.
I have read numerous posters on the forums and it is obvious who the ones who are flapping are. Serves them right for making thier game too software dependent. I have been saying this for ages and few people have listened, the online poker environment is a rapidly changing one and the sites are in business to give people what they want.
Now if this thing goes full circle and the sites think that the majority of their client base dont want this stuff then you will find sites banning software that had previously been deemed acceptable. This is a distinct possibility and one that I can see happening……not that it will……but it is certainly possible.
I have long argued that there has to be a cut-off point with these things and the online games are already getting tougher and the software is a major contributing factor towards that. How can you play a normal game when your opponents are rapidly collating data on you.
Millions of players are rapidly coming to realise this and if there is any kind of shift in the landscape with regards how the public percieve them then the sites will drop them in an instant.
