My good mate “Johnno” will not thank me for mentioning him in my latest blog but the “dufus” deserves it. He started off playing online at about the same time as me (2002) and did really well in his first year at limit hold’em winning around 50K which was more than me at the time because I was slow starter.
He had a good second year but from 2004 onwards, he has taken a serious nose dive with his earnings. So much so that last year he was forced to take a job for the first time since 2001 because he was struggling..(sorry John).
But if he is honest then he will tell you that I have been telling him for several years that his game is not good enough in today’s online poker climate. But the stubborn sod refused to listen and now he is flying up and down the entire country as a sales rep.
Well over the weekend, I got a call from John asking me for advice. Let me just fill you in here, Johnno asking for advice on poker is a bit like the Pope asking Paris Hilton for a date…..never going to happen. Well Johnno to his credit has finally bitten the old bullet and swallowed his pride and come asking (grovelling) to yours truly wanting to know how I have been winning. By the way…me and John go back a long way so I can basically get away with saying whatever I like in this blog.
Well our first meeting in my “war room” is on Thursday week although knowing him, it will be a long procession of him talking and not listening and then saying “yeah I know” to everything that I say….oh well….wish me luck.
