Well here we go again, it’s been World Series of Poker time for the past three weeks or so and “The Dean” will be staying home once again. Many people have asked me down the years why I don’t go to the series. Well there are numerous reasons for it and all pro’s don’t migrate to Las Vegas every year either. I know many of them (even many Americans who do not go).
I must confess to never having been to the series at all and have no intention of going at this moment in time. The action that I get online and the speed of that action means that I don’t even need to leave my own home in order to earn a living. Secondly I don’t play tournament poker so the big tournaments over there do not really appeal to me although winning one of them would be a fast track route to stardom these days but with the size and quality of the fields….don’t hold your breath.
But numerous people have told me that they have had absolutely horrific experiences in LV with one thing and another and on top of that the weather is unbearably hot unless you want to spend the entire time stuck in card rooms. All of the horror stories that I have heard really put me off going to LV during series time and I can never be bothered to make the effort to be quite frank. But good luck to those who have gone or who are going in the next few weeks and I wish you well and the very best of luck….you are going to need it.
