One of the questions that I have recently been asked is about the merits of hitting and running. For those of you who dont know what this is, it is the practice of playing in a game and getting ahead and then quitting the game.
Q IS THIS ETHICAL???
To that I say this, if I were playing in a live cash game then there is no way that I would do this. But last year I was doing it in heads up cash games online. In fact I even said so in an article that I wrote for The Hendon Mob and it caused quite an angry stir from a couple of players. Needless to say that these players played heads up poker and detested this tactic……good…..because that means that I am playing a successful style that is difficult to combat.
Like I said in my article, poker is a form of combat when all said and done and you dont always fight gentlemanly wars or on your enemies terms. But the reason that I would do this online and not live is to do with tracking software. These guys want it all their own way, they want to either data mine me and then pick me to pieces or use their PAHUDS and slowly gather data on me so they can also pick me to pieces but at a future point in time……and they get pissed off if someone doesnt sit back and allow it to happen…..classic.
So I will hit and run and chop and change sites so no one can get an angle or see me coming. This has always been my philosophy and it is getting even more important. Now we are entering into situations where players can even purchase ready made databases. These people get upset once they cant play with their opponents cards almost exposed due to the volume of their data. So the answer is….yes its ethical and especially online as it is an attempt to level the field……but it isnt ethical to the PAHUD Pros who dont like it…LOL
No poker at all last night but played some NL100 today on Cake and won $44! I am still making preparations for a serious bankroll challenge but I cant make my mind up how to do it. Whether multi-tabling is the way to go or I should focus on one table and play a far more elongated challenge. I am a much better player when I single table and there is no doubt of that. I will be looking to start something this year.
Also I am going to start playing heads up again but on my own money and not part of the bankroll. I need to be doing something to fill the time in. Was thinking about playing high-stakes limit again but those games have seriously toughened now but there is still value but once again it comes down to selecting the players properly. But at $150-$300, I would need a bankroll of at least $150k!!
Keep minding that snow and see ya soon
