I don’t BELIEVE it!

Anybody who has ever watched the comedy show “One foot in the grave” and the character of Victor Meldrew will be only too aware of his catchphrase of “I don’t believe it”. Well this was exactly what I was screaming at the computer screen the other night except I inserted the word ******* in the middle of it.

There was this one player who was either drunk or very bad or both who was throwing an absolute party. I was targeting this guy specifically because this was where my likely payday was going to come from. But many times when you get situations like this, the fish manages to get off the hook or they end up passing their chips to someone else.

Well I am sat there with the nut straight on the flop and the money gets all in with my opponent making a big all in re-raise (we ain’t talking peanuts here either). As I am just about to click the call button, I hear a pinging noise. Suddenly the light is flashing on my modem that tells me that I have been disconnected.

“I don’t ******* believe it”. I know that hands in situations like these are treated as folded so I do not have long. I sit there praying for the little green light to stop flashing and signal that I am connected again. Time stands still but to cut a long story short, I get back online and my big pot is gone. What is even worse was that I have in essence just passed the guy some of my money. This has been happening since around Christmas time and I have done nothing about it so I got my just deserts. The moral of this very sad story (sad for me that is) is to make sure you can trust your ISP….can’t trust mine!!
