No poker to report of any note and so far this year I am $41,220 up in the 25-50 game so that makes me about $10,305 up personally. I am a further $2718 ahead playing heads up NLHE but I am not making money playing NL50 and NL100 and have been basically recycling money in preparation for this challenge. I made just over $1000 in December but have been stuck on and around that mark ever since but that has been marred by some very bad play and me tinkering constantly with my system.
I was trying someone elses system who I trusted for two weeks but it didnt suit me for some reason even though they claimed to win 3ptbb/100 over 210k hands with it. I know that they are telling the truth but the fact remains that I was break even over about 30k hands. That can easily be achieved but the system didnt suit me.
My main problem is designing something that will be successful over at least 6 tables and probably 8 or more. I keep getting close to something only to then find out that it doesnt fit the situation and my personality. I feel like I am close but there are other problems as well. I think that I am guilty somewhat of thinking that the players at NL50 are novices and have no idea.
I really think that they are better than what I am giving them credit for and I need to play with that in mind. So between now and the rest of the month I think that I will get my head down and see if I cant crack this thing.
There has been a fair bit of talk recently about an overall lack of fish in NLHE and poker in general. I really think that this is the case. But yet there is still plenty of money to be made in online poker, the fish may not be little fish anymore but that dont necessarily make them sharks now does it. They may have put on a few pounds and grown a few inches but it doesnt make them man-eaters.
What I do feel though is that you need to work hard not just away from the table but at the table as well. You cant just turn up now and expect players to hand you money like in the good old days. So in my opinion, the fish are still there, its just that they have beefed up a bit so you had better get yourself down the gym.
