Had a phone call last night, quite late in fact and well after ten in the evening. One of my backers was calling to let me know that he was pulling out and could I forward him his share of the money (about $10k). Of course I tried to talk him out of it but actually I no longer need him I feel. I have far more confidence now in how I am operating and I get to keep 33% of my winnings instead of 25%.
It also means of course that I am accepting more risk but thats how it goes. I guess that people just need money these days more than they ever have and $10,000 (£7500) plus the £8k that I had of his in my possession was just too luring. I have no complaints, these sorts of things happen all the time.
Lord knows we were always having money worries and problems with team members when I had the BJ team up and running in the late nineties. Actually I dont need a backer as I have more than enough to fund this myself but I may listen if someone asked me for 25% (which is all thats left).
Have not played seriously since last post but I have been doing well with my NL50 preparations. Played two more one hour sessions today and made two great lay downs when in times gone by I would have simply stuck the money in because of the low-stakes. I managed to fold a set of fours cos I just knew that my opponent had called the turn with a flush draw that hit on the river. Also folded top two pair as well, calling with these hands has been a massive leak upto now.
I won about $20 today which would have been more had I not had set under set that turned into a full house under an even bigger one……no getting away from that.
A couple of my stakes have been doing well and actually earned me over $1000 last month, havent heard from the other one, hope he hasnt done a bunk with my dosh.
