Turning to Jesus

Did you seriously think that I was turning to god?? Er….well….no….I pray often enough whenever I am in a big PLO pot and am ahead on the turn to do any further praying thankyou very much.

No, the Jesus that I am referring to just happens to be the second most famous Jesus and by that I mean the winner of the 2000 WSOP Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. For those of you who are unaware Chris has been following a very strict bankroll challenge over the past few months where he first of all attempted to turn $0 into $10,000 in online poker.

Well he succeeded but the way that he succeeded was by playing freerolls to begin with (well when you are starting without any money then you dont really have any option) and gradually building up step by step. The idea is to show other players of which he showed actual proof by the way that this could be done.

This meant that a vast army of low stakes and micro stakes players and not to mention free money players were now playing poker armed with a very serious plan of attack. It also meant that the low stakes games were now a whole lot tougher as a result of this brilliant piece of marketing.

I tried to do something similar a few months ago but cheated slightly and moved the goalposts and tried to turn $1000 into $100,000 in 12 months. I knew that there was no way that I could grind it out in freerolls and micro stakes for weeks on end. This is where someone like Ferguson excels because his discipline is rock solid.

Well I failed miserably even though I won a nice chunk of money. I couldn’t commit to putting the time and effort in and ended up doing other ventures. But the prospect of turning nothing into a substantial amount of money has always intrigued me so I am having serious thoughts about doing this sometime this year. I would dearly love to emulate Ferguson or to beat him by doing this in a faster time than him.

The Dean’s bankroll challenge has a nice ring to it but I think that I will be undertaking some challenge of some description sometime this year as I do love a good challenge.
